Young media experts from various fields highlighted the media's role in sports and shared their vision for the future of sports media and its leadership in the country.

With encouragement from the UAE’s wise leadership, Asmaa Al Hosani began her jiu-jitsu journey in elementary school through the school jiu-jitsu programme. She trained hard and competed in various tournaments until she earned a spot on the UAE national team. She also appreciated the role of sports media in highlighting and nurturing her talent.

Shama Al-Kalbani, the world’s top-ranked jiu-jitsu player of 2023 with four gold medals, said she attended the Global Media Congress (GMC) to learn about new media strategies that could boost sports. She also shared her vision of how media support can promote this sport among women, not only as a way to master martial arts but also as a skill to defend themselves.

Shams Al-Tamimi, a media student at Al Ain University of Science and Technology, said media plays a vital role in promoting sports news. She added that media platforms cover all the matches and sports events in the UAE and worldwide. TV is a popular medium for broadcasting live games, while radio provides clear, detailed, and fast updates for sports fans.

She added, “Social media is a breakthrough in sports media, as it combines audio and visual elements to convey news.”

Amina Al Nuaimi from the University of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) highlighted the importance of shedding light on sports, particularly as it is closely connected to media.
