ANWAR ABDELKHALQ (ABU DHABI) - We live in a world that needs cooperation, a world that requires achieving global consensus to raise ceiling on climate ambitions, and a world that must transition from setting goals to implementing them.

Based on this concept, the official logo and visual identity for the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) was designed in a spherical shape with light and dark green colours.

The logo includes a variety of symbols related to climate action, such as people and renewable energy technology, elements of wildlife and nature, all encompassed within a globe shape. These icons reflect the wealth of natural resources and man-made technology the world contains, highlighting the need for innovation in all sectors for comprehensive sustainable development.

The design, launched on January 17, 2022 during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, signals to the international community the necessity of uniting efforts for urgent climate action, and moving forward on a path that includes everyone, fulfilling global climate commitments with cooperation and joint action.

The logo emphasises the key messages of the COP28 conference; it will be a conference of cooperation and concerted efforts, building bridges of dialogue between nations, the public and private sectors, the scientific community, civil society, women, and the youth.

The logo and visual identity symbolise cooperation, work, and innovation, reinforcing the conference’s practical, inclusive, and ambitious approach to move the world from setting goals to implementing them in terms of mitigation, adaptation, financing, and loss and damage.

The COP28 logo confirms the UAE’s keenness for COP28 to concentrate on cooperation, combined efforts, and building bridges of dialogue, all underpinned by full inclusivity.
