Hamid AlZaabi, Director-General of the Executive Office for Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT), said that the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC) represents a global platform for shaping the future of the media industry and consolidates the UAE's pioneering role regionally and internationally.

The Global Media Congress will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, from 14th to 16th November.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), AlZaabi said that GMC's second edition will bring together a group of prominent leaders and media professionals from around the world to formulate a forward-looking vision for the future of this industry, which has become a significant driver of sustainable development in societies.

AlZaabi added that the media sector plays a crucial role in promoting public awareness of financial matters, money laundering, and terrorist financing crimes, their types, methods, and techniques, along with the relevant legislative frameworks.

He pointed out that the UAE attaches high importance to combating money laundering and terrorist financing and places it among its priorities in line with the wise leadership directives.

The Global Media Congress will have a wide variety of programmes and exhibitions focusing on the most relevant issues related to the future of the media sector.

The three-day Congress is organised by ADNEC Group in strategic partnership with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Under the slogan 'Shaping the Future of the Media Industry', the Congress will include a three-day conference with over 30 sessions in which globally prominent media leaders and scholars will discuss vital issues relevant to the industry.

The exhibition accompanying the Congress will not only showcase the latest technologies from leading brands and startups relevant to the media, but also provide an opportunity for commercial deals between technology companies and media outlets.
