HALA AL KHAYYAT (ABU DHABI) - The "Tarahum for Gaza" campaign, launched by the UAE in mid-October as part of its efforts to mobilise humanitarian relief packages to the people of Gaza, will organise new activities on Thursday, November 9, at Emirates Hospitality Centre in Ajman, and on Sunday, November 12, at Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal part of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, under the supervision of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority.

The events will take place from 9am until 2pm. Since its launch in mid-October, under the supervision of the Emirates Red Crescent, the "Tarahum for Gaza" campaign has collected 1,250 tonnes of food, health, and medical relief materials and prepared 58,000 relief packages that varied between children and mothers' bundles and food parcels.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs oversees the implementation of the "Tarahum for Gaza" campaign, in coordination with the Ministry of Community Development and in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent and the World Food Programme, with the participation of 20 charitable and humanitarian organisations.

The Emirates Red Crescent has renewed its invitation to citizens and residents in the country for extensive participation in the community initiative in Ajman, embodying the humanitarian values of UAE society. "Tarahum for Gaza" aims to express solidarity with Palestinians affected by the ongoing war by providing basic needs for women and children, as well as supplying health and general hygiene materials.

The campaign events have been organised to maintain the strong momentum and significant participation from all segments of society wishing to contribute to the UAE's humanitarian efforts to help those impacted in the Gaza Strip. The engagement from the community illustrates the deep-rooted values of cooperation and human solidarity that constitute the fundamental pillars of UAE society.

The Emirates Red Crescent said it receives in-kind aid through its 26 centres located across the Emirates. The aid, sent by parcels, is collected in three baskets: Food basket, women's basket and children's basket. The food basket includes 14 items such as flour, oil, dates, fava beans, chickpeas, peas and greens, corn, tuna, canned meat, tea, salt, sugar, and biscuits.

The women's basket includes blankets, sanitisers, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and personal belongings; and the children's basket contains powdered milk, cerelac, liquid milk "Aptamil", nutritional supplements, soap, diapers, biscuits, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, body cream, and baby bottles.

The Emirates Red Crescent has urged philanthropists and benefactors in the country to make donations, which contribute to purchasing the necessary supplies for the people of the Gaza Strip, especially medical supplies and medications.

As part of the campaign, eight planes were sent carrying more than 200 tonnes of food, medical, and relief supplies. Operations to distribute aid in the Gaza Strip commenced in cooperation with the World Food Programme.     The campaign is supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority and the World Food Programme, in coordination with the Ministry of Community Development, with the participation of 20 relief and humanitarian organisations.

Accredited humanitarian and charitable institutions in the country continue to receive donations at their centres and through their websites. Those wishing to volunteer or donate can find out more on charitable and humanitarian associations social media pages and websites.

Further Efforts

Following the orders of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a comprehensive field hospital will be established in Gaza to offer vital medical support for Palestinians, as part of the "Gallant Knight 3" humanitarian operation in support of the Palestinian people.

His Highness also directed the provision of medical treatment at UAE hospitals for 1,000 Palestinian children, accompanied by their families, to provide them with necessary medical and health care and ensure their recovery prior to their safe return.

As part of the "Gallant Knight 3" operation, five planes landed at Al-Arish airport in Egypt on Tuesday, carrying all necessary equipment for the field hospital, before being transported to Gaza. The UAE also sent additional six planes carrying supplies and equipment to support the establishment of the field hospital. The Emirati field hospital, with a 150-bed capacity, will be established in multiple stages.

The hospital will encompass departments of general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, gynaecology, anaesthesia, intensive care for children and adults, along with clinics specialising in internal medicine, dentistry, psychology, family medicine, in addition to CT scan services, laboratory, pharmacy, and supportive medical services.
