Global Village, the region’s leading multicultural destination for culture, entertainment, dining, shopping and attractions, opened its doors to a 28th season of fun and frolic on Wednesday evening.
After bringing together a record-breaking nine million guests last season, Global Village is offering an expanded array of attractions in the latest edition that runs until April 28, 2024. With 27 pavilions, over 3,500 shopping outlets, and more than 250 dining options, this season provides an immersive journey through more than 90 cultures.
Fernando Eiroa, Chief Executive Officer of organisers Dubai Holding Entertainment, said: “For nearly three decades, Global Village has been a regional and international phenomenon. This achievement owes much to our exceptional teams and partners, who tirelessly contribute to showcase the world’s diverse cultures. We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to visitors from around the world for Season 28.”
A packed schedule of 40,000 shows featuring world-class performers, beloved characters, concerts, street performances, and an all-new Cyber City Stunt Show will be part of the entertainment. The latter show, set in the year 2075, features flying bikes, LED-covered police cars and a tank, promising to keep guests on their toes throughout the entire performance.
Mumbai Nights will present exciting Bollywood routines through the art of dance. International acts like AAINJAA, Fusion Japan, and Dhol Foundation will grace the main stage for concerts and alike. The Kids’ Theatre section will host favourites like Peter Rabbit and PJ Masks.
Dragon Lake will feature a mesmerising new fire and laser show performed atop the world’s largest underwater LED screen, with perfect synchronisation ensuring amazing hourly shows for the visitors. Organisers promise unique 3D projections shows on the Gate of the World will be another cynosure of all eyes. Firework shows will also light up the skies above the park every Friday and Saturday at 9pm.
There will be more than 195 rides and games at the section called Carnaval. There will be 10 new exhibits at Odditorium, which features items from Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
Global Village is also introducing Mini World, a brand new destination that celebrates cultures from around the world through miniature landmarks, street food offerings, new game and adventure zones and a mini golf zone, offering visitors of every age activities to enjoy.
For the convenience of visitors, the Roads and Transport Authority has introduced an additional bus route, 107, from Al Nahda bus station, complementing the existing four routes from various locations.
Visitors can also look forward to enhanced services across all parking zones, including the relocation of the VIP parking zone to the Cultural Gate, the expansion of entrances and exits, and the addition of new lanes to accommodate more cars and provide a smoother journey to and from Global Village.
Ticket prices have also increased. A “Value” ticket for weekday visits (Sunday to Thursday, excluding public holidays) will cost Dh25 at the gate, while the “Any Day” ticket offers flexibility for entry on any day, as the name suggests, and cost Dh30. Ticket prices are discounted by 10% if purchased on the mobile app or the website at https://www.globalvillage.ae.
