The early voting centre in Abu Dhabi city witnessed a significant participation from the youth during the first day of the Federal National Council elections 2023, reflecting their political awareness and eagerness to be an essential part of this national celebration. As a vital segment of society and the promising future of the country, young people are keen to learn about the various facets of the new political cycle.

Mohammed Al Rumaithi, a young voter, urged UAE youth to participate in the national celebration. "The voice of the youth plays a crucial role in changing the course of the electoral process", he said.

They choose the voice that represents them in the parliamentary dome to convey their issues with integrity and honesty, influence decisions, and align with the aspirations of the youth while contributing to the comprehensive development and global standing of the UAE, he noted.

Saeed Al Amari, another young participant, praised the experience in the voting centres, which he said supports the political experience. He affirmed that youth are a key pillar of the UAE’s development and progress, adding that their participation in the new political process strengthens their choice of a representative who will support youth issues and consider their ambitions and needs.

Young voter Mubarak Suhail emphasised the importance of the youth making a significant imprint in the electoral process by understanding the tasks assigned to the National Council members. He urged young people to get to know the candidates, reading their electoral platforms and biographies, and observe how they interact during events with different segments of society.

This helps young voters choose a candidate capable of representing them in the parliamentary dome, he said, adding that the youth have a unique perspective that can address new, evolving issues that require an active representative.

Alia Ahmed, another young voter, pointed out that Abu Dhabi’s election centre saw a great turnout of young people. Such positive participation confirms the youth’s commitment and responsibility to support the country’s comprehensive political and developmental journey, she said, adding that young people are keen to select the most suitable candidate to engage in the political process.

She emphasised the importance of the youth in decision-making, especially in the UAE, given its legislation which highlights the youth’s vital role in the future of the country.
