In implementation of the vision of the President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and with the support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of the Presidential Court, the Al Falah Academy school for the children of residents opened for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Academy currently includes two schools, one in Abu Dhabi and one in Al Ain, each of which provides a high-quality education to 1,125 male and female students, from first kindergarten (K-1) through the eighth grade.
Executed for the first time at the national level, the Academy falls within the Presidential Affairs Office’s social and educational initiatives to solidify the values of social solidarity and cohesion, enhance the knowledge and capabilities of emerging generations, and help the youth build a bright future.
His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Al Hamiri, Secretary-General of the Presidential Court, noted that the Academy’s establishment came as a realisation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Their Highnesses are keen to cultivate an advanced educational environment in the country, His Excellency said. In its vision and mission, the academy aims to establish schools that serve as innovative educational institutions adhering to the highest global standards. These schools offer a secure and distinguished learning environment, prioritise the promotion of societal values, and empower students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences essential for a successful and fulfilling educational, professional, and social life, His Excellency remarked.
His Excellency also expressed his pride in His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s directives to launch this pioneering school system.
These schools strive to support resident families by offering a well-rounded, top-tier educational setting, enabling their children to acquire the knowledge and skills essential for their future roles in society, His Excellency said. He also highlighted that the school curricula place a strong emphasis on values such as tolerance, integrity, excellence, creativity, a dedication to ethical principles, and social responsibility.
Dr. Suad Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Acting Director of Educational Affairs at the Presidential Court, noted that the Al Falah Academy schools aspire to attract the children of residents. Their mission is to establish institutions that take pride in their identity, heritage, and historical heritage, while also being capable of adapting to and staying current with contemporary advancements. This is achieved through the implementation of high-quality educational programmes geared towards equipping students with modern knowledge, skills, and experiences.
Dr. Al Suwaidi affirmed that the primary objective in establishing the Academy is to implement the wise directives of the leadership to ensure access to education for all and provide educational opportunities for students facing challenging social circumstances, thus guaranteeing the continuity of their educational journeys and securing their futures. Consequently, these schools operate as a non-profit educational system, with a strong commitment to serving the community.
During the development of the Academy, a deliberate effort was made to ensure that tuition fees were set at a level accessible to all parents. The school facilities were meticulously planned to provide an outstanding educational environment, featuring cutting-edge laboratories, dedicated spaces for extracurricular activities, and a range of essential educational resources. Dr. Al Suwaidi underscored that these characteristics collectively position Al Falah Academy as a pioneering national initiative.
Dr. Al Suwaidi unveiled plans for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year, announcing the expansion of the Academy. New schools will be opened in Abu Dhabi’s Bani Yas City and Al Jimi in Al Ain City. These schools will provide education up to the twelfth grade and will have the capacity to accommodate 1,750 students per school. This expansion aims to enrol a greater number of students, and alleviate burdens on families in the community, she noted.
Dr. Al Suwaidi also underscored that the schools adhere to the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education. They place a strong emphasis on achieving excellence in various subjects, including the Arabic language, national identity, social studies, Islamic education, English language, mathematics, computer science, general sciences, and other disciplines that enrich students’ knowledge and prepare them for their university journeys. The Academy has also recruited highly qualified administrative and teaching staff across all fields, enhancing diversity in the learning environment, she added.
In the design of the schools, particular emphasis was placed on creating facilities that foster a unique educational environment that promotes creativity and innovation, Dr. Al Suwaidi said. The school’s infrastructure is heavily technology-oriented, incorporating state-of-the-art educational facilities. This includes smart applications compatibility in classrooms, laboratories, activity halls, sports fields, as well as in the social and educational support that students receive during their time in the Academy.
These provisions ensure that each student’s experience within the school corridors is one where they are instilled with values that enable them to keep pace with the modern era, and actively engage with the future, she said.
