ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry are the latest Ryder Cup stars confirmed for the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links from November 6-9.
The pair join Masters champion Rory McIlroy and fellow 2025 Ryder Cup players Ludvig Åberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Rasmus Højgaard, Robert MacIntyre and vice-captain Alex Noren for the opening DP World Tour Play-Offs event.
Fleetwood, a two-time winner here in 2017 and 2018, arrives in strong form after claiming the DP World India Championship with a final-round 65. The Englishman also secured his first PGA Tour title and the FedExCup this season, and led Europe’s points scoring in the Ryder Cup triumph at Bethpage Black.
“It’s always special to play at home in the UAE and the Abu Dhabi Championship is a tournament I look forward to every year,” Fleetwood said.
Lowry, who sealed Europe’s half-point to retain the Ryder Cup, won this title in 2019 before going on to claim The Open at Royal Portrush that year.
“Abu Dhabi has always been a great place to play golf and I’m really looking forward to being back at Yas Links,” Lowry said.
McIlroy heads the field as career grand slam winner and Race to Dubai leader. Åberg, Fitzpatrick and Hatton add further major pedigree and recent form, while MacIntyre and Højgaard bring the momentum of Europe’s historic away victory.
The top 70 available players on the Race to Dubai Rankings will compete, with the leading 50 advancing to the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai the following week.
