The Formula 1 World Championship trophy has arrived in Abu Dhabi ahead of the season-closing Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Yas Island, scheduled for December 3-6.

The arrival of silverware comes at a pivotal juncture in the 2026 title race. Mercedes sensation Kimi Antonelli has emerged as the overwhelming frontrunner to lift the trophy at Yas Marina Circuit, holding a commanding 123-point lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings. He has 365 points following his victory in the United States Grand Prix.

His closest pursuer, teammate George Russell, sits on 242 points, with Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton a further point back on 241 points. With Antonelli holding a formidable cushion as the season enters its final stretch, the Abu Dhabi finale could serve as a grand coronation for the teenage prodigy or the ultimate stage for the championship trophy to be presented.

To mark the countdown, the trophy made a special stop at Etihad Airways’ headquarters at Zayed International Airport as preparations gather pace across the capital.

The trophy was welcomed by Antonoaldo Neves, Group CEO of Etihad Airways, and Saif Rashid Al Noaimi, CEO of Ethara, underscoring a partnership that has remained central to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since its inaugural edition in 2009.

Among the most recognisable spectacles of the weekend remains the traditional pre-race flyover by an Etihad Airways aircraft over the track, viewed by millions globally.

Antonoaldo Neves, Group CEO of Etihad Airways, said: "The excitement is building … and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests from more than 100 destinations to our home, Abu Dhabi, for the spectacular final race of the season.”
