Abu Dhabi Sports Council will organise the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series Abu Dhabi powered by TAQA, a round of the 2026 World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS), from November 13 – 14 at Hudayriyat Island.
The event will be staged alongside the 2026 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Abu Dhabi, bringing two major international triathlon events together at one sporting destination.
Rescheduled from March, WTCS Abu Dhabi will feature individual sprint races on Friday November 13, followed by the Mixed Relay Series on Saturday November 14, the world's leading triathletes will compete for Olympic Qualification Ranking Points, World Triathlon Ranking Points and the regular prize money of WTCS and Mixed Relay Series events.
The Abu Dhabi round will be staged alongside the World Triathlon Multisport Championships Abu Dhabi 2026, creating a major ten-day celebration of triathlon and multisport on Hudayriyat Island from November 13 – 22.
The combination of the two events will see the world's leading elite triathletes compete at the same destination as more than 4,000 age-group athletes from around the world, further strengthening Abu Dhabi's position as a leading global destination for major sporting events.
His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, affirmed that hosting the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series Abu Dhabi powered by TAQA alongside the World Triathlon Multisport Championships 2026 on Hudayriyat Island reflects Abu Dhabi's leading position on the global sporting map and the confidence of international sports federations in its organisational capabilities.
Al Awani said: "We are proud to welcome the world's best athletes and thousands of participants to Abu Dhabi. We also value our longstanding strategic partnership with World Triathlon, through which the UAE capital continues to host and organise world-class sporting events that inspire the community and encourage people to adopt healthy and active lifestyles."
He added: "Bringing together two major world championships of this scale on Hudayriyat Island demonstrates our commitment to the continued development of Abu Dhabi's sporting landscape and to delivering exceptional experiences for athletes, participants and spectators, further strengthening the emirate's position as a preferred destination for major international sporting events."
For his part, World Triathlon President Antonio F. Arimany expressed his appreciation to Abu Dhabi stakeholders, particularly Abu Dhabi Sports Council, for their commitment and support in bringing the World Triathlon Championship Series back to the UAE capital and staging it alongside one of the federation's biggest events of the year.

Beyond the racing, Hudayriyat Island showcases Abu Dhabi's world-class sporting infrastructure as an integrated destination where athletes and visitors can train, compete, stay and relax in one place.
The island features purpose-built cycling and running facilities, alongside beaches, world-class hospitality and dining, Surf Abu Dhabi and the soon-to-open Velodrome Abu Dhabi, providing an exceptional setting for ten days of international sporting competitions and diverse community experiences.
