DUBAI (ALETIHAD)
The C1 Championship, the world’s first all-female camel racing series, returns on November 8 at Al Marmoom Camel Race Track, Dubai, ushering in its most exciting and inclusive season to date.
Established in 2021 by the Arabian Desert Camel Riding Centre (ADCRC), C1 is a bold platform that has redefined tradition and inspired new audiences.
Now entering its fifth year, the Championship continues its trailblazing journey across four races with the introduction of two key innovations: the women’s 2000-metre race, a new addition to the season’s competition calendar, and, for the first time, men’s races on the same card.
The developments mark an important step forward in the sport’s evolution, reflecting C1’s core values of independence, transparency, and fairness while opening new doors for athletes from across the world to compete, connect, and grow together.
The Championship’s expansion also coincides with camel racing’s rising international profile. The sport has now been confirmed as part of the upcoming Asian Youth Games in Bahrain (October 22-31) and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia (November 7-21), further underlining its cultural and competitive significance.
The season brings together 12 nationalities.
“When I founded the C1 Championship five years ago, I did it with one belief: that our community becomes stronger when we open doors, not close them,” said Linda Krockenberger, founder of the C1 Championship and the ADCRC.
“This is about opening camel racing to everyone, women and men alike, guided by independence, transparency and fairness. It is a catalyst for change," she added.
