Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappé would like his kids to stay away from professional football.
"I would never advise my kids to dive into the world of football," he told the L'Equipe newspaper in an interview.
Mbappé doesn't have children yet, but when asked if he could imagine his kids hating football, he said with a laugh: "I hope so. But I think that, unfortunately, the ball is never far away."
In the interview, the Real Madrid player described the downsides of professional football.
"I like to say that the people who go to the stadium are lucky to 'only' see the show and not know what goes on behind the scenes," he said.
"To be honest, if I didn't have this passion, I would have been disgusted by the world of football long ago."
The fame and money also bring many problems, Mbappé explained. He said he always walks a "fine line between paranoia and vigilance," but doesn't want to let that take away from his enjoyment of life outside of the sport.
"I'm fatalistic when it comes to the world of football, but not when it comes to life. Life is great."
