Championship leader Oscar Piastri cruised to victory at the Formula One Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, while team-mate and title contender Lando Norris was forced to retire in the final laps.

It looked like there could be a fight between the two McLaren drivers towards the end of the race, but with seven laps to go, smoke started to come out of Norris' car and he was forced to pull over and abandon the race.

Piastri started from pole position and never had his lead disrupted despite the safety car being deployed three times. Norris' retirement was a huge moment in the title race, as the Australian now leads the standings by 34 points ahead of his team-mate.

Thanks to Norris' issues, local hero and defending champion Max Verstappen was second and rookie Isack Hadjar of Racing Bulls claimed his first F1 podium in third.
