In a landmark accomplishment for UAE sports, Ras Al Khaimah International Marine Sports Club delivered a stellar performance at the IWWF Asian Waterski and Wakeboard Championship, held in Bangkok from June 23 to 29.
Competing against athletes from over 20 nations across Asia, the club claimed eight medals and secured top overall rankings, further cementing its reputation as the region’s premier watersports institution.
The club’s achievements were headlined by standout athlete Sultan Al Nuaimi, who captured silver medals in both the Tricks and Slalom categories, a bronze in Jump, and silver in the overall individual ranking. These individual successes contributed significantly to the team’s collective triumphs.
The Ras Al Khaimah team earned first place among Middle East teams, third place in the team rankings, and third places in the Youth and Junior categories.
The team, comprising Sultan Al Nuaimi, Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, and Ali Al Mazrouei, competed under the guidance of national coach Khalid Matar Sebaei and team manager Saeed Al Ghais. This year marked the club’s largest participation at the continental level to date.
Aref Al Hernki, Chairman of RAKIMSC and head of the delegation, praised the team’s efforts and said the “accomplishment is the fruit of our wise leadership’s vision and the unlimited support provided by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi [Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah] to the marine sports sector and youth empowerment” while nurturing and producing champions for the UAE on the world stage.
Al Hernki also extended thanks to the UAE Marine Sports Federation, led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, for fostering an environment conducive to athletic excellence.
