Saudi Arabia has won the bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, following a vote by the FIFA General Assembly on Wednesday, confirming the Kingdom as the official host for the prestigious global tournament.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the national football associations voted in favour of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
"The 2034 World Cup will be an extraordinary tournament, as it will mark the 100th anniversary of the first FIFA World Cup in 1930," said Infantino. "The 2034 edition will undoubtedly be special, and I am delighted with the unanimous support from all continental federations."
On December 1, FIFA announced the results of the technical evaluation for Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup, with the Kingdom receiving the highest rating in history, scoring 419.8 out of 500.
The 2034 World Cup final will take place across five Saudi cities, including Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and Neom. Matches will be held in 15 stadiums, 10 of which will be newly constructed in the five cities, while five others will be developed in Riyadh and Jeddah.
In July 2023, FIFA revealed the details of Saudi Arabia's bid for the largest World Cup in history, with 48 teams, marking the first time a single country will host such a massive tournament. The official bid was submitted to FIFA in Paris.
On October 9, 2023, the Saudi Football Federation officially submitted the Kingdom's bid to FIFA for the 2034 World Cup. On March 1, 2024, the Saudi Football Federation unveiled the official identity for their bid, featuring the slogan "Growing. Together." alongside a visual identity and a dedicated website (Saudi2034bid.com).
