The Masters segment at the ongoing 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship (Abu Dhabi World Pro) concluded at the Mubadala Arena on Wednesday with MoD UAE taking the top position in the black belt category, followed by Commando Group in second and the Kazakhstan National Academy in third.

Uzbekistan's jiu-jitsu athlete Ruslan Yakubov, who won the 69-kilogramme category gold in the men's Gi, said: "Winning gold is a special moment for me. Last year, I competed in the championship and didn't place as high, but this time I came back better prepared, fought three tough competitions, won them all, and earned my first gold at this prestigious event.

"I've been to Abu Dhabi many times for these championships, and today the experience exceeded my expectations. The energy at the arena and the fans were incredible. I thank the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for putting on such high-level championships throughout the year."

Among the dignitaries attending the event was Fahad Abdul Qader Al Qassim, Director-General of the Endowments and Minors' Funds Management Authority.

Commending the event's growth, particularly in the number of international participants and academies, he said: "The sports, cultural, and community activities alongside the championship provide an ideal space for interaction and exchange between diverse cultures, embodying the values of love and tolerance that define the UAE."

The UAE federation's board member Yousef Abdullah Al Batran highlighted how the championship has built on its successful past. He praised the black belt masters for their competitions which are adding immense value to the event, with athletes demonstrating advanced skills and years of experience.

Al Batran also noted the unique appeal of jiu-jitsu, which supports personal and professional growth across all ages. "Abu Dhabi World Pro has earned global praise from clubs, academies, and guests, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's reputation as a top destination for jiu-jitsu champions.

"The event leaves a lasting impression on over 9,000 athletes, who return home with unforgettable memories of a unique experience. This success drives us to keep striving to meet the aspirations of the global jiu-jitsu community in future events," Al Batran said.
