Fleetwood United were crowned champions of the 2023-2024 Second Division Club League competition after defeating Nujoom FC team by two goals to one in the final match that took place on Saturday at Al Hamriyah Club Stadium at the end of the twenty-sixth round of the competition.

The goals for the Fleetwood United team were scored by David Webb and captain Ben Pringle, while Mohamed Zain Al Abidin (10) provided the consolatory goal for the Stars team. Fleetwood United collected 62 points, followed by Al Dhahirah with 57 points.

Gracing the occasion on the night to honour the champions were Obaid Salem Al Shamsi, Second Vice President of the Football Association and Chairman of the Tournaments Committee, and Yahya Khalaf Al Matroushi, Member of the Board of Directors and a member of the Tournaments Committee.

The Dubai Cods, as the winners are nicknamed being the sister concern of England's Fleetwood Town United, took time out to head to the waters off the Dubai shores.

Pringle and the team used the opportunity to bask in the glory of their achievements as well as the sun on the high seas, before they gather again for the next season in a few months' time.

The Second Division championship is essentially the third tier in the national football competitions.
