Al Ain prevailed over a star-studded Al Nassr side over two legs in the Asian Champions League.
The match was the highlight clash of the quarter-final stage in the continental showpiece event.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr side had Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, Alex Telles and other big names. Yet, Al Ain took a 1-0 lead in the first leg at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium through Soufiane Rahimi’s winner.
In Riyadh, Al Ain led by two goals, again Rahimi scoring both, but Al Nassr fought back to force extra time.
With the contest ending 4-4 on aggregate, it was down to penalties which Al Ain won 3-1. Only Ronaldo scored for Nassr.
Al Ain won the inaugural ACL in 2003, and are in semis for the first time since 2016.
