Abu Dhabi (Aletihad)
The Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship has hit foreign soil as promised, marking its international expansion in the space of six months given the popularity and quick acceptance for its unique nature of the tournament.
Athletes of jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts (MMA) from the world, including those from Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP), will display their grappling prowess in Brazil.
Known worldwide for its strides towards the evolution of jiu-jitsu and the empowerment of its practitioners, the UAE will see its mission take another important step towards completion this week. The next few days are packed with attractions that will take over the Brazilian city of Balneário Camboriú and dish up possibilities that combat sports can offer.
The fight week comprises three high-level tournaments, organised by International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), which will be also broadcast live and exclusively on the modern streaming platform TX7.ae.
From March 1 to 3, AJP athletes will don their gear and make their way to the Expocentro for the South America Continental 2024, as they seek valuable points over the three days to climb the organisation's rankings.
The Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship will be held on the second day, with a line-up featuring some of the best names from both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA and their techniques in the ADXC cage. In the Main event bouts, Bruno Lima faces Jansen Gomes, and Beatriz Mesquita duel against Jennifer Maia.
The UAE Warriors 48 will also make history with a new destination in the event's history on the next day – Sunday – elevating the MMA scene to its peak when Rafael "Morcego" Silva facing Vicente Vargas in the main feature of the evening's card.
By joining hands with Brazil and the Balneário Camboriú City Hall, AJP once again showcases its investment in combat sports and its long-standing commitment to the goal of increasing both jiu-jitsu's and MMA's reach across the globe.
That commitment is reflected in Abu Dhabi, a city that has both shaped and been shaped by jiu-jitsu, attracting countless practitioners from all over the world every year with its modern infrastructure and its stellar tournaments.
With most of the preparations for the fight week already in place, His Excellency Abdulmunem Alsayedmohamed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, talked about the joy of joining forces with cities such as Brazil, considered a jiu-jitsu powerhouse.
