The second edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Games Championship, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council with support from the Department of Government Support, will take place during Ramadan at Abu Dhabi Sports Hub, Al Forsan Club and Hudayriyat Island.

More than 60 government agencies from Abu Dhabi are expected to participate in the competitions, which include 11 games such as football, archery, padel, fitness, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, chess, badminton, running, and cycling.

Participating teams will compete from 9pm to 2am.

The tournament celebrates the holy month of Ramadan, with the aim of raising employees’ morale, improving their performances, interpersonal relations, and professional and personal development in the work environment.

The games also aim to leave a positive impact on their health as well as mental and psychological clarity, within a competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of challenge and teamwork.

His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, confirmed that the organisation of the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Games Championship was based on the great successes achieved in the first edition, which witnessed the participation of more than 1,600 employees from 47 government agencies.

His Excellency said: "We are very happy with the great demand from all government agencies to participate in the second edition of the tournament, with the goals of adopting a healthy lifestyle at all physical, mental and social levels, in addition to the fact that the tournament has become a forum that provides the opportunity for employees to participate side by side with their colleagues in many competitions within a distinctive social atmosphere that enhances their quality of life index."

The first edition of the tournament featured a number of accompanying events, such as the Special Olympics exhibition, entertainment competitions in football, volleyball, and basketball, and a padel tournament for programme volunteer marshals.
