UAE leaders congratulate Saudi Arabia over 2034 World Cup bid

The leaders wished the Kingdom “good luck and success” in organising the tournament (WAM)

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) - President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai have sent their wishes to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after it became the only nation to bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

Mohamed bin Zayed wished the Kingdom “good luck and success” in organising the tournament. “Wishing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia success and prosperity as it undertakes the hosting of the 2034 FIFA World Cup,” he said on Wednesday.

“Guided by the visionary leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom relentlessly pursues development and prosperity,” he said. Mohammed bin Rashid also took to X to congratulate Saudi Arabia, and called it an “Arab victory”.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 2034 World Cup is an Arab victory... and a new Gulf success... and a Saudi victory that confirms the Kingdom’s global status.”

“On such global occasions, the region rises, grows and prospers. We are optimistic about achieving the vision of the Crown Prince of the Kingdom, my brother Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for the region to be ‘the new Europe’.

“All the best to our brothers in the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince,” he said on X.
