With its participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, the UAE is reaffirming its consistent approach based on active diplomacy, openness, constructive dialogue and multilateral cooperation.
The participation directly serves the objective of strengthening the UAE’s global standing and expanding its relations with countries around the world, in line with the “We the UAE 2031” vision and the broader goals of the “UAE Centennial 2071.”
The UAE delegation is led by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and includes a number of ministers.
This high-level representation underscores the importance the UAE leadership places on international diplomacy and advancing global partnerships while supporting efforts to maintain international peace and security.
Three Global Strategic Priorities
The UAE enters the 81st session with a clearly defined agenda centred on three key areas: Supporting conflict-resolution efforts, consolidating stability, and promoting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence; contributing to reforming and enhancing the efficiency of the United Nations system, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence; and advancing climate action and developing sustainable and innovative solutions in the water sector, in support of the shared sustainability goals outlined in the two documents.
Dialogue and International Law
The UAE’s approach to international peace and security is based on the firm conviction that serious dialogue, respect for the principles of international law and multilateral action provide a solid foundation for addressing the root causes of conflicts and building sustainable solutions. The UAE is working persistently to translate this dialogue into tangible steps.
The 81st session also represents an important opportunity to reinforce confidence in the international system, renew commitment to the principles of the UN Charter and advance global efforts towards practical solutions that integrate peace, security and sustainable development.
Continued Humanitarian and Diplomatic Role
Through its active diplomacy and extensive humanitarian role, the UAE continues to contribute to conflict-resolution efforts and promote a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The UAE also supports the UN80 Initiative , which seeks to strengthen the effectiveness and responsiveness of the United Nations in addressing contemporary global challenges. In parallel, the country is contributing to the development of international frameworks governing the responsible and regulated use of artificial intelligence.
Climate and Water Leadership
The UAE continues to advance practical and sustainable solutions that enhance water resilience and support the Sustainable Development Goals through international cooperation, innovation and the exchange of expertise with partners around the world.
This commitment builds on the legacy of the UAE Consensus, adopted at the conclusion of COP28 in Dubai. The agreement was approved by nearly 200 countries and represented the first comprehensive global agreement to explicitly call for transitioning away from fossil fuels, doubling energy efficiency and tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030, alongside efforts to reduce deforestation.
This historic achievement, whose implementation the UAE continues to support and build upon, reflects the country’s practical commitment to environmental sustainability and strengthens its role as a trusted global voice in advancing climate and water action.
In another demonstration of its commitment to global sustainability, the UAE, in partnership with Senegal, will host the United Nations Water Conference 2026 in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10. The conference is expected to further strengthen international cooperation in addressing water challenges and enhancing global water security.
The UAE maintains that addressing today's global challenges requires collective action and shared responsibility. Achieving sustainable stability, it stresses, depends on stronger international cooperation, clear and agreed frameworks and genuine political will to work together.
