One person has been taken into custody following an incident at the private residence of US Vice President JD Vance in Cincinnati, US media reported on Monday.
Police are investigating the disturbance, which occurred during the night and apparently resulted in several windows being broken, local broadcaster WCPO reported from the Vance estate in the state of Ohio.
Both police and US Secret Service agents searched the area around the house, the ABC Network affiliate reported, citing officers at the scene.
The US Secret Service is responsible for protecting high-ranking politicians and ensures the safety of elected officials.
The agency informed the police shortly after midnight (0500 GMT) that someone was running away from the property "toward the east," a police spokesman told FOX19. The police then apprehended the suspect.
It is unclear whether Vance or his family were at home at the time.
At the end of December, the city of Cincinnati announced that it would close the access roads to the vice president's residence from December 29 to January 4.
Other residents could still access their homes but would have to pass through several security checkpoints. According to WCPO, the restrictions were lifted on Monday morning.
