Before his departure from Israel, US Vice President JD Vance clearly spoke out against the annexation of the occupied West Bank by Israel.
"The West Bank is not going to be annexed by Israel," Vance said, adding that this was the unchanged political line of the US government.
An opposition initiative for the annexation of parts of the West Bank surprisingly received a majority in a preliminary vote in the Israeli parliament on Wednesday, but final approval is considered unlikely.
US President Donald Trump also stressed that he would not allow Israel to annex the West Bank.
