A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck deep off the coast of the southern Philippines on June 28, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake, which the USGS reported occurred at a depth of 101km about 70km from the nearest areas of Davao Occidental province.
Quakes are a near-daily occurrence in the Philippines, which is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, an arc of intense seismic activity that stretches from Japan through South-east Asia and across the Pacific basin.
