European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement on Monday that she and other EU leaders as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had received a debriefing from President Donald Trump following his call with Russia's President Vladimir Putin.

"I want to thank president Trump for his tireless efforts to bring a ceasefire to Ukraine. It's important that the US stays engaged. We will continue to support Volodymyr Zelenskyy to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine," von der Leyen said on X.

The other leaders included French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alex Stubb and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, von der Leyen said.
