Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Thursday that the international community must unite to put an end to the ongoing war in Lebanon.
Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted Mikati at a conference on Lebanon in Paris, urging the international community to stand together and support efforts aimed at halting the current Israeli aggression and implementing an immediate ceasefire.
France and the United States had jointly proposed a temporary ceasefire at the United Nations General Assembly in September, which received support from numerous countries but has yet to gain Israel's approval.
The Lebanese Prime Minister stated, "UN Security Council Resolution 1701, in its current form, remains the cornerstone for stability and security in southern Lebanon, a view widely shared by France."
"The full and immediate implementation of this resolution by both Lebanon and Israel will preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity and ensure security along our southern borders, enabling displaced people to return to their homes," he continued.
