BRUSSELS (WAM) -- Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has announced the Commission's new College of Commissioners following weeks of negotiations with EU Member States.
The new College, focused on prosperity, security, and democracy, aims to strengthen tech sovereignty, industrial strategy, and climate action.
The new Commission features six Executive Vice-Presidents, including Teresa Ribera (Clean, Just, and Competitive Transition), Henna Virkkunen (Tech-Sovereignty, Security and Democracy), Stéphane Séjourné (Prosperity and Industrial Strategy), Kaja Kallas (High Representative and Vice-President), Roxana Mînzatu (People, Skills and Preparedness), and Raffaele Fitto (Cohesion and Reforms).
Additional commissioners include Maroš Šefčovič (Trade and Economic Security), Valdis Dombrovskis (Economy and Productivity), Dubravka Šuica (Mediterranean), Olivér Várhelyi (Health and Animal Welfare), Wopke Hoekstra (Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth), Andrius Kubilius (Defence and Space), Marta Kos (Enlargement), Jozef Síkela (International Partnerships), Costas Kadis (Fisheries and Oceans), Maria Luís Albuquerque (Financial Services), Hadja Lahbib (Preparedness and Crisis Management), Magnus Brunner (Internal Affairs and Migration), Jessika Roswall (Environment, Water Resilience and Circular Economy), Piotr Serafin (Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration), Dan Jørgensen (Energy and Housing), Ekaterina Zaharieva (Research and Innovation), Michael McGrath (Democracy, Justice and Rule of Law), Apostolos Tzitzikostas (Sustainable Transport and Tourism), Christophe Hansen (Agriculture and Food), and Glenn Micallef (Intergenerational Fairness, Culture, Youth and Sport).
This new structure reflects von der Leyen's commitment to a lean, interconnected Commission that prioritises Europe's competitive, sustainable, and secure future.
