Starlink is now actively providing internet service to the UAE field hospital in Gaza, Elon Musk said on Wednesday, in a move that is expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s operational capabilities and marks the continuation of UAE’s efforts to assist Palestinians affected by the war.

Internet connectivity in Gaza has been severely impacted by the ongoing conflict, with a lack of power and fuel hampering the operation of health centres.

In an effort to support the Palestinian people and Gaza’s healthcare system, the UAE in February announced an initiative “to introduce SpaceX’s Starlink satellite broadband at its field hospital in the Gaza Strip”, the Ministry said in an official statement.

On Wednesday, Musk announced on his official X account that the Starlink service is now active.

In response to the announcement, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has expressed his gratitude to Musk for supporting the UAE’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
“Thanks Elon Musk for supporting the Gaza UAE field hospital,” H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed wrote on his official X account.

In February’s statement, the UAE foreign ministry said that high-speed internet would facilitate potentially life-saving medical consultations through real-time video calls.
