Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi, along with other dignitaries, extensively discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip during a meeting in Cairo on Sunday, stressing that both sides firmly reject forced displacement of Palestinians from their land and call for a two-state solution.

Amidst ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, President El-Sisi emphasised the urgent need for a ceasefire to protect civilians and alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis, and stressed the importance of defusing regional tensions to prevent further instability, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidency.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi supported Egypt's stance and acknowledged its efforts in coordinating and delivering international humanitarian assistance to Gaza, in collaboration with the UN and the global community.

Both Egypt and China underscored the importance of adhering to international law, firmly rejecting the forced displacement of Palestinians from their lands.

There was an emphasis on the critical importance for the international community to assume its responsibilities in this regard to enforce the delivery of relief into the Gaza Strip, in line with the relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, the statement added.

They agreed on the need for a fair and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian issue, including advocating a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy. The meeting reflected a strong commitment from both nations to address the root causes of the crisis and work towards lasting peace and stability in the region.
