Ministers, experts, and political analysts across the Arab world have praised the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) relentless efforts to spread peace, tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity worldwide.
They acknowledge that the UAE possesses a unique soft power that has enabled it to achieve these goals, primarily through its resolute stance against terrorism and extremism, as well as its political credibility and regional presence grounded in strong principles.
Today, the UAE joins the global community in celebrating the annual “International Day of Peace,” established by the United Nations General Assembly to fall on September 21. The UAE’s record in promoting peace and the values of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of others, while fostering global stability and security, stands as a testament to its commitment.
In conversation with Aletihad, Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Al Orabi commended the UAE’s efforts in the promotion of global peace and dialogue. He highlighted the UAE’s balanced foreign policy and its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution.
He also lauded the UAE’s role in spreading the values of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of others, both within the Emirati society and on the global stage.
Al Orabi further explained that the UAE’s foreign policy aims to assist nations and engage with relevant international entities, including the United Nations Security Council, to resolve crises peacefully.
The UAE has actively participated in numerous peacekeeping initiatives under the umbrella of international legitimacy, working to defuse crises and combat the risks of war.
Al Orabi said that “The UAE’s success is a reflection of its political credibility and regional influence, grounded in strong and consistent principles”, noting the UAE’s global initiatives, such as the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace.
Dr. Amr El-Deep, an expert in international relations and global history at Lomonosov Moscow State University, highlighted the tangible efforts made by the UAE in establishing peace. He pointed to the UAE’s serious attempts to mediate regional and international conflicts, including the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, seeking peaceful resolutions.
El-Deep underscored the UAE’s strong ties with regional and international parties, maintaining its diplomatic channels. He mentioned that the UAE aims to spread peace across the region and the world by laying the groundwork for meaningful dialogues in any disputes. The UAE distinguishes itself in promoting the values of peaceful coexistence, especially given its diverse population of over 200 nationalities and diplomatic relations with more than 190 countries.
Tunisian political analyst, Dr. Khaled Obeid, elaborated that the UAE, as a significant regional  force, helps achieving international equilibrium through its contributions to global security, stability, and peace.
He noted that the UAE’s recent move to join the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) is evidence of its commitment to supporting peace, development, and prosperity for all people and nations.
Obeid stated that the UAE wields substantial economic and financial power, utilising it to promote a culture of peace and mediate conflict resolutions across Africa. He cited the UAE’s involvement in resolving the recent Sudanese crisis and its calls for restraint, de-escalation, and dialogue, as well as its mediation efforts between Ethiopia and Eritrea to end a 20-year-long war.
Syrian political analyst and director of the Kurdish Studies Center, Nawaf Khalil, said that the UAE’s political experience enriches the region and the world with its peace initiatives. He noted that the UAE has played a significant role in settling conflicts and praised its humanitarian aid efforts, including swift assistance to the Syrian people after recent earthquakes.
Khalil stressed the UAE’s pivotal role in conflict resolution and peace-building, asserting that its contributions in this regard will be highly effective alongside other initiatives, humanitarian actions, and efforts to promote peace, unity, and development.
In combating terrorism, the UAE currently leads the United Nations Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee. The country actively confronts extremist ideologies, hatred, and the terrorists’ exploitation of advanced technologies. It enhances the capabilities of member states to prevent terrorist acts and advocates for holding nations that fund terrorism accountable.
Munir Adib, a researcher in extremist movements and international terrorism, commended the UAE’s efforts and vision in countering extremist organisations. He emphasised that the UAE has established an extensive database to support research institutions in confronting extremist groups with precise information, enabling effective counteraction. The UAE has consistently stood by Yemen throughout its various phases, offering extensive support to facilitate economic and humanitarian development. Attia affirmed that the UAE is an indispensable part of the coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government, diligently working to end the Yemeni crisis and lead the nation to safety through diplomacy and mediation.
