ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

This year’s Middle East Film & Comic Con’s lineup has taken on blockbuster proportions with the announcement that John Cena will be bringing his star power to Abu Dhabi.

The region’s largest pop culture festival will be held on September 12 and 13 at ADNEC Centre.

The WWE champion turned Hollywood actor has left a seismic impression on showbiz. He started out as a professional bodybuilder and limousine driver in Massachusetts, became a 17-time wrestling World Champion and the face of WWE, before making it in Hollywood as a global action-comedy star.

Across hundreds of leading and cameo roles, he boasts film credits in box office hits including “The Suicide Squad”, “Fast and Furious”, “Barbie”, “Bumblebee” and “Superman”.

And that’s not all. Cena holds the official Guinness World Record for the most Make-A-Wish Foundation wishes granted by any one person; has authored a series of best-selling children’s books; frequently serves as producer-narrator for TV sports series; and even recorded his own rap album, named after his signature catchphrase, “You Can’t See Me”.

Pinning down a spot in an all-star lineup at MEFCC 2026, Cena joins Mackenyu from Netflix’s “One Piece” and recently announced guest Joonas Suotamo, the Finnish actor who brought the iconic Chewbacca to life in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and also played Lurch in Netflix’s “Wednesday”.

Taking place at ADNEC Centre for one vibrant weekend, the Meet the Stars zone allows superfans to meet their heroes in real life through exclusive signings, photo opportunities and interactive talks.

MEFCC is a space where fans and creators come together over what they love, from celebrity panels and cosplay showcases to gaming zones and comic book discoveries.
