ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Fresh from concluding their inaugural "The Beginning" nationwide tour, the UAE National Orchestra is currently performing a series of concerts in Abu Dhabi.
The newly assembled ensemble, led by maestro Amine Kouider, have tried their hands at the works of several renowned composers, including Italian master Vivaldi last weekend, adding their own Arabian twist to Western masterpieces.
This Saturday, February 14, the UAENO will be paying homage to the Russian classics at NYU Abu Dhabi's Red Theater in The Arts Centre.
Some of the most deeply felt music ever written was born in the hearts of three extraordinary composers: Shostakovich, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky. Their music speaks not of place, but of emotion, imagination, and human resilience.
“Russian Classics” celebrates their artistry and individuality. The programme opens with Shostakovich’s "Overture on Russian and Kirghiz Folk Themes", followed by Stravinsky’s playful "Pulcinella Suite", and concludes with Tchaikovsky’s "Symphony No. 5", a triumphant expression of hope, universal spirit, and endurance.
The orchestra has one more concert scheduled in the UAE capital - “Echoes of Time: Ibn Arabi” on February 19 at The Cultural Foundation Auditorium, before touring in Ajman and Umm Al Quwain on February 24 and 27.
