February is the Month of Love and what better way to celebrate it than with good music.
In the poetic concert, "Faces of Love", being staged at the Cultural Foundation Auditorium on Wednesday, February 4, the UAE National Orchestra will trace love's journey through melody, from its first spark to its deepest mystery.
The newly formed 100-member ensemble recently concluded its inaugural nationwide tour across all seven emirates with its debut concert "The Beginning". This performance will be a special treat for those who have not seen the orchestra live in concert yet.
The orchestra is led by world-renowned artistic director Amine Kouider.
The programme for "Faces of Love" unfolds in three movements: Emerging Love, Passionate Love and Eternal Love, each revealing a distinct emotion.
At the heart of this journey, the ney traces a path of breath and memory, its soulful voice carrying longing and intimacy. What begins in tenderness grows into power and transcendence.
The programme highlights consist of two parts.
Part I
-French composer Claude Debussy's "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune"
-Egyptian composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab's "Ahwak", arranged by Abdelaziz Shabakouh and performed by singers Sanda Cheikh Rouhou and Saif Al Ali
-"Valse" triste by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.
Part II
-"Gased Gedakom Hafee", featuring the poetry of the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, by Ali Kanoo. Arranged by Abdelaziz Shabakouh and sung by Sanda Cheikh Rouhou and Saif Al Ali
-Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskys's "Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture"
Season One Continues
This month, the orchestra continues Season One with a variety of performances that include classical, traditional, and modern sounds. Here's what you can look forward to in Abu Dhabi.
