Experience Verdi's "Rigoletto" in a lavish production by celebrated Russian director Yuri Alexandrov, founder of the State Theatre St. Petersburg Opera.
Staged at the Cultural Foundation on November 22-23, Alexandrov's adaptation transforms the jester from the familiar hunchback into a cunning figure whose torment lies hidden behind his courtly disguise - a haunting portrayal of cruelty, corruption and vulnerability.
Founded in 1987, the St. Petersburg Opera has become one of Russia's leading companies, admired across Europe for its richly costumed productions and exceptional singers.
Under Alexandrov, who has staged works at La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Arena di Verona, and the Mariinsky Theatre, the theatre has developed a reputation for bold artistry that challenges convention while remaining faithful to Verdi's dramatic power.
"Rigoletto" remains one of Verdi's most enduring masterpieces: a story of love, betrayal and revenge told through some of the most celebrated music in the operatic repertoire.
