Home to timeless treasures, from archaelogical finds of the Bronze Age, to the artefacts mirroring more recent history, Fujairah Museum offers a broad window into the emirate’s rich past.

Located near Fujairah Fort and Heritage Village, close by the city centre, the museum’s curated displays trace the story of the emirate from historic periods to modern times.
At the antiques hall, a rich array of artefacts unearthed from Al Bidyah, Qidfa, Dibba, Dhadna and other sites offer a glimpse into life in the distant past.

Among the items on display are pottery fragments, arrowheads, beads, soap stones, and coins, all meticulously arranged to shed light on life during the Bronze and Iron Ages and the Hellenistic Period.

The museum also offers information about the ancient rock art of Wadi Al Hayl, located in the mountains southwest of Fujairah. The rock art sites showcase common motifs, including representations of animals, such as horses, leopards and camels, as well as human figures and geometric motifs

Moving further, visitors enter a recreated marketplace and souq, showcasing the vibrant atmosphere of a traditional Emirati market. The exhibits feature spice shops, everyday goods and demonstrations of traditional crafts, including the making of brass utensils, accompanied by the rhythmic clanging of hammers in the background.

Continuing on, another section showcases the beauty of village life, featuring a replica of an Arish, a traditional house made from palm leaves, along with displays highlighting agrarian past and the tools once used in daily life.

Al-Khars, a clay vessel for cooling drinking water placed on a wooden stand draws visitors’ attention. “Its porous clay allows air to cool the water naturally, giving it a refreshing taste,” reads a description.

The visit also offers a peek into the ship-building industry, or “Al-Qalafah”, illustrating Emiratis’ long-standing reliance on the sea for trade with neighbouring countries.

Details about the various types of ships used for fishing, pearling and transport are displayed in detail, highlighting the enduring maritime connections that shaped cultural heritage through the ages.
