MAYS IBRAHIM (ABU DHABI)
With its weeklong Ramadan Night Market, Masdar City has created a community space that served as a hub for homegrown businesses in a vibrant celebration of Emirati culture.
Running until March 28 at Masdar Park, the market showcases local, family-run businesses offering a diverse range of products, from traditional Emirati clothing and handmade jewellery to perfume and customised accessories.
The souk sought to embody the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid celebrations.
"[It] fosters a warm, community-driven atmosphere with festive lights, delicious food, and live music, capturing the essence of togetherness and generosity that defines Ramadan and Eid celebrations. It's a place for families to enjoy meaningful experiences and create lasting memories," Masdar City said in a statement to Aletihad.
Visitors can enjoy traditional Emirati treats like luqaimat, crispy dumplings drizzled with date syrup, alongside refreshing local teas.
Cultural items, such as perfume and aromatic Bukhoor, are also available for those looking to experience the distinctive fragrances of the UAE.
On weekends, the Hub by Social transforms into a lively entertainment space with live Oud and Saz performances, creating an immersive cultural experience.
Visitors can also participate in a unique spices workshop where they can explore the aromatic flavours of Emirati cuisine.
"These activities, combined with the lively atmosphere, enrich the overall visitor experience and celebrate local culture," Masdar City said.
In partnership with the Municipal Community Center in Khalifa City, the market also aims to empower local entrepreneurs and homegrown businesses by providing them with a platform to showcase their products, increase their visibility, and engage with the community.
"It's a great opportunity for small businesses to grow and thrive in a supportive, community-focused environment."
The Ramadan Night Market is open daily from 8pm to 2am, providing ample time for visitors to explore, shop, and enjoy the entertainment.
