Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the Arilah 60ft dhow sailing race will take place on January 25, 2025, in Abu Dhabi.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the event forms part of the current season’s traditional racing programme, which aims to celebrate and preserve the UAE’s rich maritime heritage.
The race, representing the third round of this category, will span 28 nautical miles and is expected to attract over 90 dhows, each crewed by 20 skilled sailors. The course will begin at Khalifa Port and conclude at the flagpole on Abu Dhabi Corniche, showcasing the UAE’s seafaring traditions. Three cars will be awarded as prizes to the winners of the top three positions.
The Arilah 60ft dhow sailing race will bring together leading dhow owners, captains, and sailors, showcasing the skills and teamwork that define the UAE’s maritime culture.
The race reflects the UAE’s commitment to preserving its maritime heritage, fostering a sense of national pride and identity, and serves as a platform to pass down maritime traditions and skills to future generations.
