The Sheikh Zayed Festival, a cornerstone of cultural celebration in Abu Dhabi, is set to commence on November 1, 2024, and will run until February 28, 2025. The annual event, held in Al Wathba, is a tribute to the rich heritage and traditions of the UAE, named in honour of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The festival, established in 2010, is one of the largest cultural and heritage events in Abu Dhabi, celebrating and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the UAE, reflecting Sheikh Zayed’s vision of promoting the nation’s traditions and values.

The festival has grown significantly since its inception, becoming a major attraction that draws visitors from around the world. It showcases a wide array of cultural activities, including traditional Emirati crafts, folklore performances, and heritage exhibitions. The event also features international cultural displays, highlighting the UAE’s role as a global cultural hub.

The festival spans 119 days, offering a diverse array of activities and events designed to engage visitors of all ages. This year’s theme, “Hayakum”, meaning welcome in Arabic, encapsulates the spirit of hospitality and the connection between generations that the festival aims to foster. The festival grounds will be a hive of activity, featuring over 6,000 cultural events and performances from around the world, and more than 30,000 exhibitors showcasing crafts and products.

The festival is set to host participants from over 27 countries, including several making their debut with special pavilions and sections. This international presence aims to nurture communication and provide insights into the world’s diverse civilisations and cultures.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Heritage Village, where visitors can immerse themselves in the traditional Emirati way of life. The village will feature authentic customs and traditions, including traditional markets, handicrafts, and folkloric performances. This area provides a unique opportunity for visitors to learn about the UAE’s cultural heritage and experience it firsthand.

This year’s edition will also introduce “Al Wathba Nights” concerts, showcasing top Arab singers, artists, and stars. These artistic evenings will offer a variety of performances, from traditional and national songs to folkloric and modern music, catering to a wide range of tastes and cultures.
