Abu Dhabi is set to host a night of uninhibited laughter and entertainment as The Laughter Factory returns to the city on Thursday. The event, part of The Laughter Factory’s August tour, promises to be a highlight of the summer, featuring a stellar lineup of comedians who are sure to leave the audience in stitches. John Fothergill, Nico Yearwood and Miqdaad Dohadwala each brings a unique style and brand of humour.

The show will take place at The Club, Abu Dhabi, a venue known for its vibrant atmosphere and excellent facilities. The Club provides the perfect setting for an evening of comedy, offering a comfortable and intimate environment where the audience can fully engage with the performers.

Celebrating his 20th year with The Laughter Factory, Fothergill, is a well-known British comedian, recognised for his lively and engaging performances. He began his comedy career in 1993, quickly making a name for himself by performing alongside notable comedians like Jack Dee, Lee Evans, and Jo Brand.

Before venturing into comedy, Fothergill was part of a band called One Hand One Heart, managed by Chas Chandler, who also managed famous acts like Slade and Jimi Hendrix. After the band was dropped by their record label, he worked on a gas rig, which added to his rich life experiences that he later drew upon in his comedy.

Fothergill has performed at various prestigious comedy festivals, including the Adelaide International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. He has also made numerous TV appearances on shows like “Never Mind the Buzzcocks” and “Live at the Comedy Store”.

His comedy style is characterised by a blend of funny insults and slick banter, making him a sought-after headliner at comedy venues around the world.

Yearwood is a talented comedian originally from Barbados. He has made a significant impact on the London comedy scene with his unique blend of Caribbean-flavoured humour. Yearwood’s comedy often features hilarious stories about his upbringing in Barbados and his experiences living in the UK.

He quickly gained recognition by winning the Comedy Café’s New Act night three times and the Comedy Store’s King Gong show in both London and Manchester. His laid-back style and natural charm have made him a favourite among audiences, and he is a regular performer at top comedy venues like the Comedy Carnival and the Top Secret Comedy Club.

Yearwood’s instinctive likability and fluent delivery allow him to deliver lines that others might struggle with, making him a standout performer in the comedy circuit.

Dohadwala is a prominent comedian and producer based in Dubai. Originally from Mumbai, India, he began his career in advertising, where he managed the Fosters account, a major sponsor of stand-up comedy in India. This experience sparked his interest in comedy.

After moving to Dubai, Dohadwala co-founded VDesi Laughs, a comedy collective promoting South Asian comics in the region. He has performed at numerous venues across the UAE and is known for his one-hour special, “Log Kya Kahenge”, which was shortlisted at the Masala Awards in 2017 as one of the best live desi events of the year.

Dohadwala’s comedy style is versatile, incorporating observational humour, physicality, and impressions. He is also known for his work in organising and producing comedy shows, including open mic nights and performances by international artists.

The Laughter Factory is the Middle East’s longest-running comedy night, having made the GCC laugh since 1997. With a reputation for quality and a sharp eye for talent, The Laughter Factory has showcased numerous A-list comedians on their way to superstardom. The likes of Michael McIntyre, Russell Peters, Ed Byrne, Dara O’Brien, Ross Noble, Jason Manford, Sean Hughes, Kevin Bridges, and Frankie Boyle have all graced its stage.
