ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Abu Dhabi’s Artbooth Gallery is current displaying “What Have You Done”, an evocative exhibition by Syrian artist Kusay Bader. The exhibition, scheduled to run until July 14, 2024, presents a series of compelling artworks that delve into the complex relationship between humans and nature, highlighting the urgent need for environmental stewardship.

Amidst growing concerns over the planet’s wellbeing, Bader’s latest exhibition emerges as a powerful narrative on the symbiosis of humanity and the environment. Utilising a palette rich in colour, texture, and symbolism, Bader’s works beckon the audience to reflect on the significant impact of human activities on Earth’s fragile ecosystems.

Bader’s exhibition is a meditation on the splendour of the natural world and the stark environmental challenges it confronts. “What Have You Done” is both a question and a call to action, as Bader expresses through his art a profound respect for nature coupled with a critical eye on the threats it endures.

“My art is a dialogue about the marvels of nature and the dire perils it faces,” Bader remarked on the gallery’s website. “It’s an invitation to observe, to appreciate, and to act for the sake of our environment’s preservation.”

The exhibition’s warm hues and striking visuals underscore the resilience and fragility of global ecosystems, prompting a reevaluation of the viewer’s environmental footprint. “Art can be a catalyst for change and a means to deepen our connection with the world,” Bader asserts. “With ‘What Have You Done,’ I aspire to ignite discussions on environmental conservation and the individual’s role in maintaining our planet’s grandeur.”

Visitors to “What Have You Done” are offered a window into the enchanting aspects of nature and the critical imperative to protect its future. The exhibition encourages introspection on personal environmental impacts and inspires actions towards a sustainable legacy for the coming generations.

The gallery is a beacon of cultural exchange and artistic expression, established by Roger El-Khoury in 2019. El-Khoury, who brought over a decade of experience in the art field from Lebanon to the UAE, envisioned Artbooth Gallery as a platform to bridge the gap between renowned artists, audiences, and collectors from around the world. The gallery aspires to cater to any collector’s desires, offering fine art sales consultancy, second market art sales, archiving collections, and curating exhibitions.

From its inception, the gallery has been beyond borders, hosting pop-up exhibitions worldwide before opening its first physical space in Abu Dhabi. The gallery’s mission is to present a diverse range of thematic exhibitions, supporting both emerging and established artists.

The gallery has curated numerous solo and collective shows, showcasing artworks across various mediums. It actively participates in art fairs to promote its artists and has expanded its presence to Seoul, South Korea, acclaimed as the rising art hub of Asia. Its dynamic approach and commitment to artistic talent have established it as a cornerstone in the realm of arts and culture. With a focus on creativity and innovation, it continues to cultivate a vibrant artistic community and spearhead cultural dialogues.
