ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

On June 1, in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the Etihad Arena will transform into a cosmic stage, hosting two legendary music icons: Atif Aslam and Abida Parveen. Symphony of Stars promises an unforgettable evening – a fusion of soulful melodies, poetic verses, and the magic of live performance.

Aslam, the Pakistani sensation, needs no introduction. His velvety voice has serenaded millions across borders. From chart-topping Bollywood hits to soul-stirring originals, Aslam’s music transcends language and culture. His stage presence radiates warmth, drawing audiences into his world of love, longing, and celebration.

Aslam hails from Wazirabad, Punjab, Pakistan. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming a massive star is nothing short of remarkable. His music journey began in the early 2000s. He gained prominence after releasing his debut album titled “Jal Pari”. The album struck a chord with listeners and established him as a rising star.

In 2005, Aslam made his Bollywood debut by singing a hit song in the Indian film “Zeher”. This marked the beginning of his successful career in both the Indian and Pakistani music industries. His vocal belting technique and soulful renditions captivated audiences across borders.

Aslam stepped into the world of acting in 2011 with the Urdu social drama film “Bol”. In 2019, he was honoured with a star on the Dubai Walk of Fame for his outstanding contributions to music in Pakistan.

His versatility extends beyond music, and his nomination as the best singer in Pakistan earned him a spot in the Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars list in December 2020. His melodies resonate with millions, making him an iconic figure in the music industry.

Parveen, the mystical Sufi vocalist, weaves spirituality into every note. Her renditions of ancient poetry touch the soul, invoking devotion and introspection. With her signature ghazals and qawwalis, Parveen transports listeners to a realm beyond earthly concerns, through a spiritual journey.

Realising her talent, Parveen’s father trained her to be a Sufi singer in his musical school. Her upbringing immersed her in the rich tradition of Sufi music, shaping her destiny as one of the finest vocalists of our time.

Parveen started performing in the early 1970s, but it was in the 1990s that she truly gained global prominence. Her soul-stirring renditions and passionate voice resonated with audiences worldwide.

Since 1993, Parveen has toured globally, captivating hearts in concerts across continents. She even performed in churches, transcending cultural and religious boundaries. In March 2021, Parveen received the highest civilian award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, recognising her immense contribution to Sufi music and culture.

Symphony of Stars isn’t just about Aslam and Parveen; it’s a constellation of talent. Expect surprise appearances by celebrated guest artists. Perhaps a fusion of genres – where Sufi meets contemporary pop – or an instrumental virtuoso adding celestial layers to the melodies. As the collaborations unfold, they will weave magic – a blend of love ballads, Sufi chants, and anthems of hope.
