Abu Dhabi (Aletihad) - Black Eyes Peas and Nancy Ajram will headline concerts in Abu Dhabi as part of this year’s Mother of the Nation (MOTN) Festival, which will also have additional locations as the annual event rises in popularity in its seventh staging.

The American group and Lebanese pop star will lead the event, which will run from December 8 to New Year’s Eve at the Corniche. As precursory events, the now three-legged MOTN has kickstarted with a five-day opening stint in Al Dhafra region that runs through Sunday.

There are some pretty impressive attractions, but the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course over a stretch of 300 metres is a clear highlight. The course features a total of 42 obstacles, including inflatable bungee, slides and spacecraft. There will also be classic carnival rides.

Al Ain will take over as the stage from November 29 to December 3 as the UAE celebrates the 52nd Union Day. The main part of MOTN kicks off five days later. Ajram, known for hits including Akhasmak Ah and Ah W Noss, will take to stage on December 9.

Ajram is an influential force in the region and was previously named one of the top female Arab musicians by Forbes.

Grammy Award-winning trio Black Eyed Peas – made up of will.i.am, Apl.de.ap and Taboo – will be performing on December 13. The group have nearly three decades worth of hits, including Where Is the Love?, Boom Boom Pow and Meet Me Halfway.

Others set to take the stage include Egyptian singer Ramy Sabry and Dubai DJ Aseel, who will both be performing on December 9. Meanwhile, the final concert will be an orchestral performance by the Tourgane Family, who play songs from popular cartoon shows.

The festival will have several zones, including Amuse, Indulge and Thrill. Each will offer different experiences such as food trucks, film screenings and a skate park. Tickets for Ajram’s concert on December 9 start at Dh195; Black Eyed Peas on December 13 and the Tourgane Family on December 23 start at Dh245.

They provide entry to the rest of the festival. General admission tickets for the festival only start at Dh30. Meanwhile, the Family Care Authority (FCA) has announced that it will be participating in the MOTN. At this year’s festival, the FCA will showcase an immersive and interactive experience that aims to raise awareness about its services and highlights it dedicated call center number for reporting social cases.

The focal point of the display is a 3-screen presentation: the central screen depicts a character in crisis, while the side screens unveil the root causes and FCA’s steps for resolution.

The two side screens will then vividly display the solutions, complemented by animations illustrating the transformative changes taking place. Throughout the display, the FCA will prominently present the 800 444-call centre number, encouraging viewers to take action or seek help when faced with similar situations.
