ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has hosted a Microsoft Copilot Promptathon in partnership with the Microsoft Innovation Hub as part of its efforts to accelerate artificial intelligence capability building across the bank, according to a statement issued by the bank.
The initiative brought together employees from multiple business and support functions and focused on the practical application of advanced prompt engineering to address real business challenges. Participants presented use cases demonstrating how well-designed prompts can improve the accuracy, relevance and usefulness of AI-generated outputs.
Designed as a hands-on learning programme, the Promptathon aimed to build practical skills in prompt engineering, enabling teams to better understand how tools such as Microsoft Copilot can support decision-making, streamline workflows and enhance productivity across the bank.
The programme included collaborative workshops and live demonstrations centred on real operational scenarios.
The bank said the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to upskill employees and embed responsible use of artificial intelligence across operations, in line with its innovation agenda and long-term digital transformation strategy.
Commenting on the initiative, Fernando Plaza, Group Chief Digital Officer at ADIB, said: “AI delivers real value only when people know how to use it effectively. Through initiatives like the Microsoft Copilot Promptathon, we are equipping our teams with practical skills that help translate emerging technologies into meaningful business outcomes.
"This hands-on approach supports smarter decision-making, greater efficiency, and responsible adoption of AI across the bank, in line with ADIB’s long-term digital transformation agenda.”
ADIB said the Promptathon reflects its approach to AI adoption, with a focus on capability building, responsible use and measurable impact, while remaining aligned with Sharia-compliant and ethical banking principles.
