President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended today the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of cadets from Zayed Military University in Abu Dhabi.
The event was held in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
The ceremony was also attended by H.H. Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President; and a number of ministers and senior officials.
The ceremony, held at the University's campus, was also attended by Lieutenant General Engineer Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; along with several senior leaders and officers of the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence.
The ceremony began with the national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran.
Major General Michael Simon John, President of Zayed Military University, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees. He highlighted that the graduation of this class reflects the university's commitment to providing comprehensive military and academic education to its candidates. He emphasised that high-quality, continuous education, combined with outstanding training in military and leadership skills, is fundamental to building the strength and effectiveness required to prepare cadres who contribute to the protection of their nation.
He added that the university aims to equip its graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve national security and safeguard its achievements.
During the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed presented certificates and awards to outstanding graduates in both academic and military performance.
At the end of the ceremony, commemorative photographs were taken of His Highness with the graduates.
Zayed Military University was established to provide integrated academic and military education, contributing to the preparation of a generation of distinguished military leaders. The university offers advanced educational programmes, including specialised military training and academic sciences, with a focus on instilling national values and discipline in its students, making them a shield for the nation and honourable leaders for the UAE.
