Umm Al Emarat Park, a community hub in central Abu Dhabi, welcomed the holy month with Ramadan Nights, a seasonal weekend series of events hosted on Fridays and Saturdays from March 15-30 from 8pm-1am.
Rasha Kablawi, Director of Corporate Communication for Sinyar Holding and spokesperson for Umm Al Emarat Park, told Aletihad: “This holy month, Umm Al Emarat Park offers a variety of activities catered to the whole family during Ramadan Nights at the Park, including a Ramadan themed Scavenger Hunt (9pm – 10pm), Face Painting (8pm –1am), a Koki Ramadan puppet show (Fridays from 9pm – 9:30pm), Oud Show (10pm –12am), Tanoura Show (10pm –12am), and Lantern Making (8pm –1am).”
Kablawi added: “In honour of the UAE’s Reading Month coinciding with Ramadan, the Park has catered a plethora of activities for young ones to enjoy, featuring a storyteller, a Ramadan themed play titled ‘Welcome Ramadan’, along with various activities and games hosted by Bait Al Arabi Centre. We encourage Park visitors to immerse in the joy, tradition, and the spirit of Ramadan at Umm Al Emarat Park, and embrace the festivities while creating lasting memories with their loved ones.”
Umm Al Emarat Park is also hosting an initiative to promote healthy lifestyles through community sports and fitness activities with Active Abu Dhabi, titled “First Steps” (Awl Khatwat). This activity will be hosted daily at the Park’s green jogging track from March 18-31 between 4pm and 11pm, where participants will walk and enjoy the spirit of community along the Park’s 1.2km route.
The Ramadan Park Market is considered a space for small- and medium-sized enterprises to showcase their goods to visitors.
Maryam Muftah, the owner of a stationery and accessories shop featuring products from Japan and Korea, shared her experience at Ramadan Nights with Aletihad.
“This is my first time participating in an event at Umm Al Emarat Park, and I had a pleasant and encouraging turnout of attendees. People are delighted since the concept of my products is new and not available in the market,” Muftah said, highlighting the assistance the Park administration provided in social media and many other areas.
Another participant, Aseel Allaqttah, who owns Curly Hair Care Products, said: “This is my first time participating in Abu Dhabi, and it was an amazing experience. Overall, it is a family-friendly event that encourages children to interact more and put down their devices. The event is also connected to our Ramadan traditions, such as oud and others. The turnout was excellent, particularly from 10pm to 12am following the Taraweeh prayer. After the second week of Ramadan, the turnout was even greater.”
Sixth-grader Mira Qubaisi, one of Ramadan Nights’ many visitors, shared her experience with Aletihad, stating: “I enjoyed the place because the festival’s activities are suitable and enjoyable for children and families, particularly the drawing activity; this is the reason for my visit today.”
“Umm Al Emarat is considered a favourite place for the family, as the place is beautiful and the atmosphere is wonderful,” said Hiba Farah, another visitor.
“After Iftar, there is a chance to socialise and go for a stroll while also learning about various handicrafts and cultural practices at the Park,” she added.
