HALA AL KHAYYAT (ABU DHABI)

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) Authority has launched its annual winter campaign under the slogan “Be Their Warmth”, with a focus on assisting those in need around the world by providing them with much-needed winter necessities.

The ERC conducts this campaign on an annual basis to enhance its response to vulnerable groups and those affected by the difficulties of the winter season, especially in terms of health. According to the ERC, this year’s campaign is particularly important due to the prevailing global conditions and the severity of humanitarian crises and disasters witnessed by the world.

Therefore, the organisation’s plan this year will expand the umbrella of beneficiaries from its winter aid campaign, especially considering escalating global health conditions, conflicts, and emergent crises, in addition to the food shortages that follow such events.

The ERC announced that it will allocate additional aid to refugees and displaced people in many countries due to the conditions they face during the winter, especially in camps, where many lack basic necessities.

Through a special initiative to benefit the people of Gaza, the ERC explained that it will allocate a significant portion of the proceeds of its annual winner campaign to help Gazan children and families during the harsh winter. Support will be provided in the form of winter clothing, health parcels, relief parcels, heating devices, and wood for heating.

The ERC called on philanthropists to participate in the campaign.

Those who wish to donate can make specific contributions for specific types of assistance if desired, designated as follows: the winter campaign for Gaza (Dh30), winter clothing (Dh200), the general winter campaign (Dh10), heating device (Dh300), wood for heating (Dh300), health parcel (Dh150), and food parcel (Dh200).

The ERC can facilitate the donation process through its official website, bank deposits, smartphone applications, text messages, the ERC’s toll-free number, and cash donation boxes, among others. ERC representatives will be stationed in approximately 175 locations across the country, such as shopping centres, markets, and various institutions, for donation collection.

The aid programme will be implemented in stages in coordination with the ERC’s humanitarian partners and the UAE embassies in various beneficiary countries to ensure that the targeted groups are provided with winter necessities.
