ATHENS (DPA)

Two earthquakes measuring magnitudes of 4.6 and 5.3 struck, within minutes of each other, the holiday island of Crete around midday on Saturday, the media reported.

The epicentre of the quakes was around 14 kilometres deep under the seabed near the small island of Gavdos south of Crete.

The earthquakes were clearly felt across the island, including in the cities of Rethymnon and Chania, the Cretalive online portal reported.

Greek police carried out patrols but found no damage, Cretalive reported.
