DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The Dubai Police Student Spring Forum 2024, themed "Train to Protect", has kicked off with the participation of over 764 male and female students. The forum will run through April 4.

The forum is organised by the Hemaya International Centre at the Dubai Police's General Department of Anti-Narcotics in collaboration with the Dubai Police Student Council, the Emirates Schools Establishment, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, and various internal partners of Dubai Police.

Major General Eid Mohammed Thani Harib, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, emphasised the importance of utilising vacation time effectively by engaging in beneficial programmes that reassure families and parents.

He said that the implementation of student care programmes plays a vital role in safeguarding children from the perils of idle time, as studies have shown that idle time significantly contributes to youth delinquency and vulnerability to addiction.

Harib emphasised that the Student Spring Forum caters to students of all nationalities, with the organising teams meticulously designing activities and programmes that align with the spiritual essence of the holy month of Ramadan.

He added: "These initiatives encompass drawing closer to Allah, acts of worship, and engaging in volunteer fieldwork that carry psychological and social dimensions for the participating students."

Meanwhile, First Lieutenant Khalil Mirza Ahli, Head of the Student Programmes Section at the International Hemaya Centre, emphasised that the forum aims to cultivate new friendships among students, emphasising positive aspects such as promoting tolerance and discouraging bullying.

The forum employs captivating and appealing approaches and innovative programs designed to empower students to handle potential issues and navigate various everyday life situations, he said.

Events & Activities
The forum for this year offers a diverse range of activities, encompassing military, sports, and volunteer events.

These include the distribution of Iftar meals, participation in the traditional Ramadan cannon firing event, and engagement in cultural activities such as attending a workshop at the Ramadan Mizhar Majlis delivered by H.E. Mohammed Al Kashf, Member of the Federal National Council, which focuses on the theme of 'Foreign Behaviors in Emirati Society'.

In addition, students in the Spring Forum can take part in the 27th Dubai International Holy Quran Competition, where they listen to young Quran memorisers and learn about their experiences in balancing Quran memorisation with their academic pursuits.

Furthermore, the students will receive training in riding security bikes, enabling them to accompany police officers during fieldwork by patrolling residential areas and spreading safety and security.

Through this initiative, these students spread a sense of security and safety while actively involving themselves in the community and promoting cycling as a civilised and safe sport.

A football championship will also be organised at the Zayed Educational Complex in Al Barsha.

Moreover, the students will be able to embark on field trips and visit various departments, including the 901 Call Centre and the Command and Control Room.

They will also attend informative lectures as part of the "Protect Yourself" awareness programme, covering topics such as the hazards of e-cigarettes and bullying.
