The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) celebrated the 2024 winners of the Abu Dhabi Sports Championship for schools and universities. This came after three days of sports playoffs and finals featuring matches and competitions for 13 teams and individual sports.
This year's championship, which is the largest edition to date, welcomed a record participation of 26,000 school and university student-athletes in its third year.
The championship concluded on March 3, with the final matches for the under-15 football girls and boys at the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub.
Regarding the girls' category, Gems United Indian School won against Al Yahar Private School with a 3-2 score, while International School of Choueifat – Abu Dhabi won the boys’ U15 title with a 3-0 win over Summit International Schools.
The winning teams were awarded by the Minister of State for Early Education, Chairperson of the Federal Agency of Early Education (FAEE), and ADEK Chairperson, Her Excellency Sara Musallam, as well as the Undersecretary of ADEK, His Excellency Mubarak Hamad Al Mheiri.
Local and international scouts including LaLiga and IMG Academy attended the ceremony to identify exceptionally talented students to join summer camps at leading international sports academies and ADEK’s talent identification and development programmes.
The championship attracted participations from 403 public, private, and Charter Schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, as well as 18 universities.
